My friend Nannette deCillis, director of ArtsCetera, a center for arts and art-related activities for children and adults, has once again organized a great neighborhood event. Starting this Saturday through the holiday season, she will host a series of pop-up markets featuring local artisans, mostly from the Etsy community. Sounds like great fun and a super opportunity for all those who like to get their holiday sopping done early.
Read on:

On Sunday, November 7th, from 11am to 6 pm, at 212 Smith Street, ArtsCetera’s child-centric Cobble Hill studio will transform into a weekend storefront market for holiday shopping, featuring goods from a diverse group of local artisans and entrepreneurs.

We’re thrilled that many of the designers who will be featured throughout the season come from the local Etsy community and The {NewNew}, a vibrant collective of indie Etsy artisans in the NY Metro a
rea.

With handmade clothing for men, women and children, jewelry, accessories and items for the home and well-being, as well as books, CDs and gifts for kids, the Pop-Up Shop will run Saturdays and Sundays through December 19th. Each weekend will feature both new and returning vendors, so shoppers will always find something fresh to see at the Pop-Up Shop. Each weekend’s line-up will be posted at our website.

The opening includes refreshments, a child-friendly area so kids can play while parents shop and a raffle of gifts donated from our vendors to benefit ArtsCetera’s Neighborhood Arts Partner, The Early Childhood Programs of the Lutheran Family Health Centers.

November 7th Vendors:

Overall Baby - Reinventing the look of children’s overalls

RAYON-A-THON

A Marathon Coloring Weekend for All Ages

FRIENDS, ARTISTS AND SCRIBBLERS. . .
LEND US YOUR HANDS!

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 12, 13 and 14, ArtsCetera’s
Cobble Hill studio will be transformed into a giant art environment for the second CRAYON-A-THON.
This extravaganza benefits our Arts Partnership with
Lutheran Family Health Centers Early Childhood Centers. Now in it's second year, the Partnership provides materials, staffing and workshops to strengthen the presence of musical learning in the lives of underserved children and families in Gowanus and
Sunset Park.

The CRAYON-A-THON was conceived by ArtsCetera director Nanette De Cillis not only to raise funds, but to also create a true community event supporting the vision of arts for all children, as well as creating work for her teaching artists. It will also be a model of creative recycling.

De Cillis says, “Everyone loves to colors. Starting with 40 pounds of crayons generously donated to the event by Luann Foty, the guru of crayon recycling, it's B.Y.O.C. Bring Your Old Crayons!

The crayons we use will be
melted and recycled into new, so children can love them down to nubs again. It’s a great, collective learning experience that is simple, fun and positive. It’s also a gesture towards developing more arts partnerships at a time when budget cuts are killing
early arts education for our most vulnerable families."

Crayon-A-Thon consists of 25 one-hour-long coloring time slots, including family-friendly hours, child-free coloring, late night I-Pod hours, and a Cocktail Coloring Party on Friday night for adults and parents w/o kids.
Participants can reserve their time, tickets are are available at the door. Suggested donations range from $15 per person to whatever the heart and pocketbook can give.

CRAYON-A-THON

A Marathon Coloring Weekend for All Ages

FRIENDS, ARTISTS AND SCRIBBLERS. . .
LEND US YOUR HANDS!

Whatever else you do to celebrate Valentine’s Day, come on down and share your
love! On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 13, 14 and 15, ArtsCetera’s well-
loved Cobble Hill studio will be transformed into a giant paper-draped art environment for it’s first CRAYON-A-THON, a marathon coloring weekend to fund the company’s new ABC Program – ArtsCetera Beginnings for all Children, which brings music and arts programming to underserved children in Brooklyn. The company first arts partnership, with Lutheran Family Health Centers in Boerum Hill and Sunset Park, began in October and has been a rousing success.

The CRAYON-A-THON was conceived by ArtsCetera director Nanette De Cillis not only to raise funds, but to also create a true community event supporting the vision of arts for all children. It will also be a model of creative recycling.

De Cillis says, “Everyone loves to color, and every child loves the thrill of new crayons. The Crayon-A-Thon is B.Y.O.C. Bring Your Old Crayons. We’re going to save the crayons we use – and we welcome donations of crayons for the marathon – and they will be melted down and recycled into new crayons to be distributed to children who can love them down to nubs again. It’s a great way to do something collectively that is simple, fun and positive. It’s also a gesture towards developing the ABC Program to reach many, many more kids at a time when budget cuts are killing early arts education for our most vulnerable families.”

The Crayon-A-Thon will consist of 25 one-hour-long coloring time slots, including adult coloring, late night I-Pod silent hours, and lots of family-friendly hours. Participants are encouraged to pre-register, but tickets are available at the door. Suggested donations range from $20 for a single, $45 for a family of three, to $75 per person for a semi- private coloring hour. More if/less if, and a silent auction.

Forget bad luck! The Crayon-A-Thon kicks off on:

Friday,
February 13th
from 4 to 7 pm,

with a Coloring Open House, suggestion donation of $25. Refreshments,
music, fun and surprises!
