Carroll Gardens Karaoke Halloween

Carroll Gardens Karaoke Halloween

Have you ever seen so many people walking the streets of Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill?   On Halloween Sunday afternoon, Court Street was a sea of gladiators, super heroes, Jedis, princesses, Tiggers, and sorcerers, all trick-or-treating.  How much fun!
Where you amongst them, dear Reader? What was your costume?

A big thanks to the officers of the 76th Precinct, who kept everyone safe during the Halloween week-end.   And also a special "thank you" to Kathleen Henderson who led the yearly parade from Carroll Park through the neighborhood.

Who knew that Carroll Gardens has so many talented singers?
Though it was rather cold on Saturday, residents of all ages came out to take the mike for the very first Halloween Karaoke event in Carroll Park.   Roberto Williams of Lion's Roar Karaoke did a marvelous job getting people to step up to sing their favorite tunes from his enormous collection of songs. From Lady Gaga to the Beatles, from Maroon 5 to Guns And Roses, every genre of music was represented.
This event was organized by the Friends Of Carroll Park and sponsored by Scotto Wines on Court Street.

Special recognition for Kellen, who rode up on his skateboard, took the mike and blew everyone away with his great rendition of "Sunday Morning by Maroon 5.  Kellen, you definitely have talent.

As one of the Friends of Carroll Park, I am truly pleased to be able to announce two great events planned in the park for the Halloween week-end.
The first is a Halloween Karaoke Party and the second is a Halloween Parade.

THIS WEEK-END
Costume Karaoke Party
In Carroll Park

Saturday, October 30th

Come dressed as your favorite rock star!  Party with your friends and family near the park house from 5:00 – 9:00 and sing some of your favorite songs with Lion’s Roar Karaoke and their 10,000 song library.  Hot cider will be available, and some snacks if we can muster them!  Suggested donation of $1 per song to benefit Friends of Carroll Park.

Halloween Parade

Sunday, October 31

Gather at 12:30 p.m. in the park and we’ll parade up Smith Street toward Warren, then back down Court Street to the park.  The first 100 kids to show up will receive free noisemakers.  Step on out to have some fun showing off your costumes!

Both events are sponsored by Scotto Wines On Court Street

Concetta has left the following comment on the post "Persons Of Interest": An Old-Fashioned Barber Shop With A Modern Twist":

I hope he does well. my father and son both went to Sal's and we miss him. Such a nice guy! Only problem I have with the new place is the name.

What is old can be new again...on Smith Street.  A case in point is the new "Persons Of Interest" barber shop at 299 Smith Street, which just opened on Tuesday where, until recently, Giorgio Zocco gave haircuts to generations of Carroll Gardeners.
When Zocco, a.k.a. Sal the Barber, passed away unexpectedly in April, many in the neighborhood thought that the old-fashioned shop would turn into yet another restaurant.
However, local resident Steve Marks, who knew Zocco, had another idea.  He felt that there was still a need in the neighborhood for a barber shop, albeit one that would attract a younger clientele.
With the blessing of Zocco's family, Marks took over the shop and has spent the last few months upgrading it. The new "Persons Of Interest", however, retains much of the old fashioned flair of its predecessor. The blue and white barber's pole is still hanging outside next to the front door.  Inside, the tropical wall poster still decorates the back wall. Even Zocco's barber chairs are the same, though they have been recovered.
Marks has recently hired barber/stylist Matt Southerland, who most recently worked in Manhattan.
So stop by and check out "Persons Of Interest".  And in case you want to make an appointment, their website is www.personsofinterestbklyn.com and their number is 718 858 5300.
