Brooklyn Museum's "Go Brooklyn Art" This Week-End

Don't forget. Brooklyn Museum's borough-wide open studio weekend starts tomorrow! On September 8th and 9th, more than 1800 artists across 46 neighborhoods in Brooklyn will open their studios to share their work from 11am to 7pm.

The event, which is meant to highlight local artists, is called "GO" and is a community-curated open studio project. Here is how it works. On Saturday and Sunday, artists across Brooklyn will open their studio doors. Community members registered as voters will visit at least five studios and nominate three artists. The ten artists with the most nominations will "receive studio visits from Brooklyn Museum curators. Two or more nominated artists will be chosen by the curators to have their work displayed as part of a Brooklyn Museum group exhibition opening at Target First Saturday on December 1, 2012."

The Neighborhood Coordinator for Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens is Eleanor Traubman. Eleanor will be running a neighborhood information at 61 Local on Bergen Street from 12 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday.

As mentioned before, this fall, the Brooklyn Museum is planning an amazing week-end to bring together Brooklyn-based artists with the residents of the borough's 67 neighborhoods. The event, which is meant to highlight local artists, is called "GO" and is a community-curated open studio project. If you are a local artist, would like to find out more, you may want to attend a "GO" Meet and Greet information session sponsored by Workshop Gallery Artists Foundation this Saturday, June 23rd at Brooklyn Workshop Gallery, 393 Hoyt Street (Between 3rd and 4th Streets) from 4 – 7 pm.

The success of this event hinges on everyone, so lets all participate.
*If you are a member of Brooklyn's talented artist community, you can register now till June 29th, 2012.
To participate, artists must have a studio in Brooklyn and be present during the open studio weekend, September 8–9, 2012.  To date, 291 artists have registered.
(Apparently, Sunset Park is leading the way.  Let's make sure that our part of Brooklyn is also well represented.)
