If you don't know this talented group yet, you should.
Brown Rice Family, a Brooklyn band, won the third annual WNYC/ WQXR's Battle Of The Boroughs, a 'citywide competition to discover New York City's best emerging talent.'

Originally, over 524 musical acts applied to participate in the 2012 Battle, held at the Greene Space on Charlton Street in Manhattan.  However, only 10 to 14 of them were chosen to represent each borough. (The Brown Rice Family had won the Brooklyn Battle back in February).

This past Friday, Brown Rice Family competed in the 'ultimate battle'  against The Mick Watley Band (Staten Island), Bodoma Garifuna Cultural Band (Bronx), Khorikos (Manhattan) and The Great Apes (Queens).
The event was emceed by award-winning WQXR host Terrance McKnight and the music was simply amazing. At the end, the audience voted for their favorite.
Though competition was fierce, Brown Rice Family came in first, with Queens' The Great Apes coming in second.
It was all great fun. Nicely done, Brown Rice Family!
