Needless to say, I was disappointed by Lander's deaf ears to Public Place site being reopened for TRUE community input. Frank Verderame, who truly loved his/our community, RIP, fought hard to have that land designated as a community recreation park. With 25,000 plus residents, this community is under-served as far as parklands. Kids need a place to run around, play sports. Verderame, at his own expense, had a rendering made illustrating a baseball field as part of Public Place site. I would like to see that framed in the park someday, Frank Verderame Park.
Besides, the City and Sate are too broke to subsidize what Gowanus Green proposes to build there -the only reason Gowanus Green didn't pull out as Toll did, and is staying around, is that they are getting the land (OUR land) free and their project is getting funding from OUR TAX DOLLARS!
