Walking The Marathon Route Through Brooklyn From Mile 7 To Mile 12

You want to know how best to enjoy the New York City Marathon here in Brooklyn if you are not running in it?   How about walking alongside the marathoners through some of our great neighborhoods?  That's exactly what my husband and I did on Sunday.  Rather than stand in one place like in years past, we followed the runners from Park Slope, through Fort Greene,  Clinton Hill and Williamsburg  to Greenpoint.
Of course,  the thousands of marathoners were inspirational and amazing.  But, frankly, the spectators are what makes this event so entertaining.  Especially here in Brooklyn.  Local residents know how to show the runners some love and appreciation. Whether hooting and hollering, playing music or offering orange slices, candy or drinks,  they sure put on quite a show.
Our walk from 4th Avenue in Park Slope to  Lorimer Street in Greenpoint is about 4 1/2 miles.
At the 12 mile marker, we decided to leave the marathoners to carry on and headed into the Manhattan Inn for a drink.  My kind of Marathon Sunday!
