Brooklyn restaurateur Saul Bolton, best known for his eateries Saul on Smith Street in Boerum Hill and The Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights just recently opened his new, long awaited Italian trattoria. Red Gravy, at 151 Atlantic Avenue Clinton and Henry Streets, will be offering simple southern Italian dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
The menu includes various antipasti choices, charcuterie and cheese selections, as well as primi and second dishes, such as spicy lamb, rabbit with roasted baby carrots, cippolini onions, and heritage pork with cranberry beans and turnips . Red Gravy will offer a piatto del giorno. Wednesday is spaghetti and meatball night.

The large storefront, most recently occupied by Mescals, a Mexican restaurant, has been entirely renovated and now includes a rather impressive looking copper-detailed bar.

The reviews posted on Yelp seem to be a mixed bag so far, ranging from accolades to downright disappointment.
Have you tried Red Gravy yet?  What was your experience?
