Back in January, when I wrote last about the 114 4th Place site, construction had barely started. So imagine my surprise when I walked by this week-end and saw that the structure is taking shape just a bit faster than some others in Carroll Gardens. The 4P, as the four-unit residential building has been called by 4th Place Developers LLC, will:
"maintain the established building heights of the neighborhood and will respect the existing set-back of the street facade. There will be front and rear gardens. The building's design goal is to create a modern interpretation of the four-family townhouse."
Sounds promising, though it would be nice to see the actual design. I couldn't find anything on the internet.
The steel frame of the building is currently tightly wrapped in plastic. Its a strange, effect to say the least. It looks as though they took quite a bit of trouble to cover it up with these plastic sheets, yet they left the wood fencing around the construction site open to the public. It looks rather dangerous, wouldn't you say?
