126 First Place

Bricking up windows and dropping roof?

To the left: Playground of the Hannah Senesh School

Do you want to know why Carroll Gardens needs to be landmarked now? Just look at the bastardization of this brownstone happening right now at 126 First Place. Construction on this house has been going on since September. A huge extension was added to the rear of the building and just when one could assume that construction would be almost over, the crew of busy little construction workers started to rip off part of the façade.
This does not bode well.
126 First Place is right next to the Hannah Senesh School. It does look a bit dangerous: the weakened side wall is right over the school's playground.

A partial stop work order exists on this site. A hearing is scheduled for April 7th, 2008 to address "occupancy contrary to that allowed " by the C.of O. Work also has been going on without a current fence permit, but the owner refiled last week.
311 complaints indicate that there has been work going on during week-ends.
I guess it's just another New York City construction site.
