Just a reminder: Today is the scoping meeting regarding the Toll Brothers' Gowanus development.
During this meeting, Carroll Gardens residents and neighbors of the Toll Brothers' project get to raise their concerns and ask questions about how the development will affect them and the community as a whole. One of these concerns, other than the pollution along the canal, is of course the strain such a development would put on the infrastructure of Carroll Gardens.
Out of curiosity, I decided to look into which neighborhood school the children living in the Toll Brother's complex would attend. According to Inside Schools Organization, P.S. 32 is the zoned school for the area along most of the Gowanus canal.
Considering that the city wants to rezone the entire area for residential use and taking into account that this will mean many more school aged children, it may be time to build a new school.
You see, judging by the (5) trailers in P.S. 32's schoolyard, the school cannot absorb too many more students.
Of course that is just one of the many concerns. I am sure my fellow Carroll Gardeners will bring up many more at today's scoping meeting.
You will find the information about the meeting on the Friends Of Bond's blog site here: http://friendsofbond.blogspot.com/
