The Carroll Gardens community got an update on the 333 Carroll Street building last night from Councilman Bill DeBlasio. At the Carroll Garden's Neighborhood Association's monthly meeting, the councilman reported that a Building's Department inspector has finally confirmed that the project's original architect, Robert Scarano, has lied on the application, claiming that the cellar was a basement. Scarano intended to use the "habitable" basement for parking and transfer the square footage onto the roof.

For the moment, a Stop Work Order was issued on March 4th and an "intent to revoke permit" letter sent to the developer, who has ten days from its receipt to respond. If he does not respond, the permit is revoked.
