As promised, dear Reader, I am blogging from my remote little village in the center of France, which has become my family's home every summer for the last 40 years.

My village is in the Auvergne, one of the most amazing parts of France.
Rich with history, blessed with an amazing landscape, which is accented by a chain of volcanoes and some of the best cheese in France, the Auvergne is were I feel most at home.

Most of the people in the village remember me as a child and some still call me 'petite Kati' and hug me so strongly when I arrive, that I immediately know that they have been awaiting my yearly arrival and are touched that I would make such a long journey just to take my place amongst them for the summer.

I love this place with all my heart.

We have been here since Saturday and already had the first visitors: my cousin from Germany with his wife and three children. They just left this morning, so I will start working on my very overgrown garden today.

Before I start, I have to post the photos I took during our long walk yesterday afternoon. The flowers are blooming in the fields here, the wheat is ripening and the changing sky makes me remember why I come here every year.

I hope everyone is fine in Brooklyn. Please, please keep me updates and send me your photos of Carroll Gardens.
And don't worry, I will come back to our neighborhood very, very soon, because that is home, too.
