Here is our monthly Bird's Eye View of Developer Bill Stein's Oliver House at 131 Second Place/ 360 Smith Street.
No doubt, there has been a lot of digging going on since fellow blogger Barbara of Carroll Gardens Brooklyn History took the last photo back in June.
Piles have been driven into the ground and Stein posted on his web site that the installation is almost completed and the pouring of cement is about to begin. The next phase, according to the web site:

Sidewalk bridging will be erected at the walkways along both Smith Street and Second Place. This bridging will be similar to the sidewalk bridging you have experienced at other construction sites around the city. As a part of this process, the subway plaza and stairway will be closed, commencing July 21st.
Yesterday, said sidewalk bridging went up along Smith Street. But pardon me for asking, is Stein truly at a point where closing the subway plaza is a necessity? The 21st is this Monday. Apparently, Stein and the M.T.A. need to give a two week advance notice to the community, which they did not do.

One cannot help but wonder if Mr. Stein is trying to give the appearance of being much further along with his condo development than he is. After all, on July 23rd, the City Council will vote on the Carroll Gardens Zoning Text Amendment...
