Hey, Where is 'Huître?'
Much has been written about the controversial Oyster Bar which restaurateur Jim Mamary is hoping to open on a quiet, residentially-zoned stretch of Hoyt Street.
However, many of you readers might have forgotten that all along, Carroll Gardens was going to be the home of a French bistro named "Huître", which means oyster in French. The bistro was going to open in the former O.T.B. space at 320 Court Street.
Back in the fall of 2007, our local Community Board was so confident that the restaurant was about to open its doors that they unanimously voted to grant the not-yet-established establishment a sidewalk seating license. Go figure!
The state liquor authority already had issued a liquor license, which seems to have expired in March 2008.
So what gives? What's holding this place up? Does anyone know?
