This comes directly from the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association's Yahoo Group. Don't even think about putting your garbage out before 5PM. Bad things will happen if you do!

FYI, Just got a call from someone in Park Slope whose whole block got Sanitation Tickets for putting their garbage out before 5PM the previous day.? Thought I'd put the word out to community leaders to spread so more people don't suffer from ticketing for the newest obscure twist in infraction enforcement. Marian Wood District Director Council Member David Yassky Phone: (718) 875-5200, ext. 13
To which someone replied:
"Hurray!? The law has always been that garbage should be placed curbside after 5pm the day before a scheduled collection.? Too many people ignore this (or are ignorant of it) to the determent of everyone else on the block and the delight of the rodent population.? The next step is to ticket those who also ignore the holiday schedules and keep their garbage and recycling on display until the next go round.? Thank you Department of Sanitation for caring enough to remind people of their responsibilities."
