A quick update on the story about Art, The Gowanus "Public Place" and Frank Shifreen:

The story has been picked up by fellow blogger R.S. Guskind of The Gowanus Lounge. To read his post, click here.

Also, Frank Shifreen shared some of his experiences of finding drums of un-named chemicals almost daily on the Public Place site.
This is what he told me:
" I saw a lot of chemicals dumped in that site. When I did the show, a long time ago of course, barrels of industrial waste would appear almost every night. We had to take them out with handcarts. We had a deal with Sanitation for them to pick it up, but some of the time they would not put it on trucks and require special handling - even in 1982. Ask for independant scientific verification."

Yes, I think it is a good idea!
