You are looking at President Street, down towards Hoyt. This is one of only two landmarked blocks in Carroll Gardens. Deep front gardens, unaltered brownstones, ornate ironwork, uniform height... a lovely example of what this neighborhood must have looked like in the 1870's when most of these houses where first built.
But what's that is the distance, you ask? Well, that's Architect Scarano's monstrosity at 333 Carroll Street, on a non-landmarked block right around the corner. Pretty awful right?
Carroll Gardens needs to be down-zoned fast. In addition,as much as possible of the neighborhood should be landmarked before the likes of Scarano destroy it. His atrocity single handedly ruins the uniformity and authenticity of this beautiful street.
