The Rite-Aid Plaza before
Before
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about Eckerd/ Ride-Aid's pretty nasty looking tree pits in front of the store on Smith. Huge weeds were growing around the trunks of the little cherry trees, giving the entire plaza in front of the store a rather unkempt look. One of my neighborhood friends was as annoyed as I was by the appearance of the store front. He and his wife had gone in a few times to tell the manager to be more neighborly by cleaning up the mess. To no avail. So he emailed Rite-Aid Headquarter's customer service. And lo and behold, just a day or so later, the weeds were pulled, the tree pits cleaned out and my friend received a personal call from the store's manager.
Now that is real success and proves that it pays to be civic-minded!Below Is the email exchange which prompted the quick action:
Ride-Aid
Regarding Store Address: corner of President @ Smith street Store City: BROOKLYN Store
To whom it may concern
There are about 6 small trees planted in front of this store. Each one of
the "tree pits" is overgrown with weeds and is full of garbage. We have
brought this to the attention of the local manager on many occasions and
each time we were promised that action would be taken. As of today, no
action has been taken! I think it is an insult to the people who frequent
the store (and to the community in general) that you care so little that you
can't even keep the area in front of your store neat and clean
I would greatly appreciate hearing from you in regards to this matter.
Sincerely yours,
E.A.
