I have a soft spot for the Michelin Man standing guard in front of the restaurant Robin Des Bois on Smith. Why you may ask? Because my father is a retired Michelin man. He spent decades working for the company. In France, this little guy is called Bibendum and you still see him everywhere at gas stations or at auto repair places. When my sister and I were small, we had Bibendum key chains, Bibendum bags and hats. The Michelin man was everywhere in our life. Why, the reason we moved to France and then to America is because of Michelin.
Normally, this specimen would have held a tire over his head. These days, he looks as though he is holding the gate of the retaurant up. And he has exchanged his original white color for a smarter red.
